Grae Davis

Graeme Davis, PhD is the Morris Herzstein Distinguished Professor of Medicine within the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of California, San Francisco. 

Davis is the former Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at UCSF. He has been an active member of the UCSF Neuroscience and Tetrad graduate programs throughout his career and is the former director of an internationally recognized practical course in neuroscience hosted at the Marine Biological Laboratory. 

 

Davis and his laboratory have pioneered a rapidly growing sub-field of neuroscience termed ‘homeostatic plasticity’. This area of research seeks to define how the nervous system remains resilient to perturbation throughout life, with implications for the onset and progression of diverse psychiatric and neurological disorders ranging from autism and schizophrenia to Alzheimer’s and ALS, as well as the inevitable adverse effects caused by advancing age.
